Well the first problem, which is probably only resolved by getting a new case, is that the screws only line up on the one side(barely). On the side where it makes the L to hold it up, the screw holes in the PSU are just above the holes in the case, so I cannot get the screws in. I'm guessing my only option would be to get a new case, or just live with it only being secured on the one side.
The second, not so much a, problem is that there are so many cables that came with my PSU i'm confused as hell. I've never dealt with all new equipment so a lot of it I've had to read up on. This is the PSU I have http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817139001. You can see all of the connectors in the pictures. I've looked at all of the connectors, and I don't see any that would fit anything on my mobo which confuses me a bit. Also, my optical drive needs a connector that is different than any of the ones I have. The optical drive has a connector that looks like -------- ---- and has no holes of any sort, just 2 lines. Any help is appreciated, and I'm sure more info from me will be needed as well so i'll be refreshing the page often. Also, here's my motherboard if it helps at all http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16813128387 |

I've been playing around with things a bit, and for the optical drive there is the SATA cable that fits, but only half. I thought it was one, but it's two separate. I have the SATA Power plugged to the PSU, but there's the SATA DATA that's a bit smaller and I don't know what to do with it, or if it's even needed for the optical drive.
Now I'm really just not sure what all of the other connectors are for. I'm guessing I won't need to use some, like the floppy power connector and the extra PCIe, but the others I'm not sure about. |

First of, your screwy screws........... Do you have a drill? Drill two holes in your case to line up with the holes in your PSU. Now for your cables.........
Didn't you get any instuctions or a manual with your PSU? If not I found a link for you it will be at the end. Your optical drive: Correct, you plug the SATA power supply into the larger of the two "lines" the smaller of the two "lines" is in fact a SATA data line. One end of a SATA cable goes into your optical drive, the other end goes into a SATA port on your motherboard. Now for your motherboard power. If you look at the 24 pin connector that comes off the PSU, (it is the one that plugs into your motherboard to power your motherboard), you will notice that the last four pins can be detached. That is in case your Mobo only has 20 pins. Does any of this make sense? Here is your link to the manual: http://www.corsair.com/_productmanua...ish_Manual.pdf EDIT: Wow, I just read that "manual." It's pretty short isn't it? Obviously written by a technical wizard for other technical wizards, not much help for a beginner is it? |

Found the instructions in a mess of boxes a couple of minutes ago XD
I'll try drilling those holes. I didn't think it'd be much of a problem but it is when trying to plug in the power cord. I guess I was mostly confused about the cords because there are some that I won't need, and some doubles so it's really not that bad. But as for the SATA, I'm a bit confused on the SATA. I have the SATA power connected to my PSU. When you said it goes from the optical drive to the mobo did you mean to the PSU? Or were you talking about the SATA data in which case I have nothing that plugs into the smaller one. Also a bit of an aside question. I plugged the PC in and turned it on, right now missing a HD and RAM. What it did was beep, the front flahsed red, and the cpu fan was blowing in a weird pattern, 2 short and a 3rd longer burst. Would that be considered normal and everything seems to be working alright? |

Ok, the power from PSU goes to the longer "line" on the optical drive, the SATA cable then goes from the shorter to the motherboard.
And yes, that's normal to a certain extent, it's not passing a test called POST because there's no RAM, and sometimes it needs a HDD too. Never seen it do the CPU fan thing though, it won't matter, but it won't be massively good for it, so if I were you I wouldn't turn it on now until everything's in.

Well I don't seem to have a SATA cable that has a shorter end to go to my motherboard. In fact, there's very few that might even fit into my mobo, one of which is a floppy.

![]() This is a SATA cable. It should come with your motherboard. It will plug into what is usually a D shaped receptacle with a notched L shaped plug. Check your motherboard manual, it'll say SATA_1 or something.

Oh lol I found the cables in amongst the mess, I should've been more neat instead of throwing all of the boxes to the side after I use them lol.
Does it matter which plug on the mobo it goes into? They're not labled 1/2. |
