You power additional fans off your power supply, nothing to do with your mobo.

Why would they run at half speed?

Depends, some case fans use 4 pin anyway.

when you purchase a case fan you normally get 2 types of connectors one being a female molex and the other connector is for motherboard so you choose witch connector to use

you can get a molex splitter to connect more fans to one 12v rail (molex wire from psu)

the fan will run at 12v but if you want silent running then a 9v molex mod is your choice (easiest and cost's nothing

If I could selfishly ask a semi-on-topic question as noone could help me in another thread and pete, you seem to have pretty much hi the nail on the head, I just wish to verify it.

My CD drive has an IDE, Molex, jumper, and two UFO's, except they don't fly, they're just UO's.. anyway, ones four pin and ones two pin, they both say something something reserved. Am I right that I don't need to plug anything into them if I have the IDE and Molex in? I'm asking here because the four-pin would appear to be the mini-molex you mention, is this possible? And if this is the case surely I don't need to power into the drive twice?

Thanks.

Just the IDE and Molex is what is needed.

Those other connectors may be for analog sound. How old is the drive?

umm well i think your on about a cd rom drive ? it has a molex connector for power only. the other connectors on it would be for audio to motherboard (witch to my knoledge gives better sound quality for dvd/music playing on the cd drive. but is not really needed these days as onboard sound or sound cards are much better. there is 2 ways to power a cd rom or hard drive and that is molex or for a sata cd drive/harddrive is a diffrent connector. so if your using a molex now its powerd only buy molex

i think that was your guestion anserd not too sure if you was asking that hehe

also for anyone interasted in the 9/5v mod (only do it to case fans! not your CPU FAN OR CD/HARDDRIVES might be obvius to most but just saying
