Hi all,

I have searched the internet high and low. I have contacted the manufacturer. All to no avail.

All I am after is some more 6 pin to 6 pin male modular Pcie cables, 5 to be exact.

Cannot seem to buy them anywhere!!

The only company that seem to sell them is Thermaltake in the USA, would rather not buy from the USA if possible.

Does anyone know where I can buy these?

The PSU's are XClio 650w (x14s4p4). I am confident that most modular 6 Pin Pcie cables are the same, am I correct?

I have no spare molex adapters so cannot use them.

I have been told that I could use 6 pin to 8 pin cables but cannot find any long enough!

Going to result to making my own shortly!!

Any ideas are welcome!!

TIA,

Keith.

i looked on ebay but couldnt find any either, you should just probally buy a couple of molex to pcie adapters and stick them together

Managed to find some on Ebay.

Asked the question about them being direct replacements for the 6 Pin Pcie from PSU to G card and have been told that is correct.

They should be here next Tuesday/Wednesday so will let you know if they are correct!!

I doubt modular cables from differing manufacturers are the same, and I seriously doubt even stronger that paying money to get an Xclio PSU to work properly is worth it considering the thing will likely explode as soon as it's hooked into anything, but good luck.

Carbon, You must have had a bad experience!!

I have 2 of these, 1 I have had for around 2 years!! The other is around 18 months old.

They are both currently running a Q6600GO@3.1. 1 is running a 260GTX and the other is running a 9600GT. Both cards are overclocked with an Accelero ACC Extreme on the GTX260. All molex cables are maxed out with fans etc.

They have been running for the majority of the time I have owned them folding@home.

GPU client's and 2x Notfred SMP clients each. 100% load. 24/7/365.

My brother also uses 1 and we have had no issues at all. Apart from the lack of Pcie cables!

If they die, I will replace them but they are great in my experience. When I upgrade to 8 pin I will replace them but until then....

Mileage varies I suppose.

Why are they so bad in your opinion?

Because their internals are poor to mediocre. Some use CWT as an OEM, which isn't too bad, but a lot of them don't. Xclio is far from the worst, but there's no reason to pay good money for one of their units when the alternative is so much better. There is no reason to cheap out on a PSU and risk internal damage when for very little more you can buy a unit that offers much higher quality components.

The cables from Flea-bay arrived today and looked good.

Well made cables.

However, Carbon you were quite right they didn't fit the PSU.

Can't put a square connector in a round hole can ya!!!

4 of the pin shapes were correct but 2 were not.

They were wired correctly though, checked them with my meter.

Live and learn...etc.

Any way, new PSU's required. Need 2 that will feed 2xGTX285 each, i.e 2x6pin+2x8pin each. Good value is what I'm after (aren't we all!!) Would love 2xEnermax85+ but can't really stretch to that.

Recommendations please.

TIA.

Keith.

How about 850TX? I assume you're not in a P183 so CP-850 is out of the question but the 850TX should be a good fit. Begs the question, though: how did you run two GTX 285s in SLI on a Xclio 650W!?!?!? I assume it was a Greatpower, which aren't the worst of their bunch, but 550W load on a mediocre 650W max rated PSU is some risky stuff.

Sorry should have mentioned in the OP.

Yeh, they are Greatpower. But only been running 1xQ6600@3.0Ghz+GTX260BlackEd@690/1450/1150 on 1 and 1xQ6600@3.0Ghz+9600GT@660/1650/900 on the other.

Looking to improve me F@H PPD.

This currently stands at around 18.5k, neeeeeed more..

Please expand on the 850TX. Upgrading soon to 4x285ish... somewhere around there anyway, watching prices....

You can see what room I have for the PSU in the pic, OK length wise, got 15 mm extra on the depth and the same on the width. Measurements currently stand at 160Lx150Wx90D for both.

I haven't heard of an 850tx? UK?

TIA,

Keith.

Sorry, meant the HX, no reason not to get modular. Here it is on scan, probably cheaper elsewhere but I always go to scan first because I don't know my UK retailers.
