Hello. I have a real puzzle for all you computer gurus out there! I recently bought a Sony digital camera (DCS-W80), and I can’t transfer pictures to my computer. When I connect the camera to my system, it recognizes the camera fairly quickly, but it either transfers the pictures very slowly or not at all, especially when the pics are taken at high resolution. I have an ASUS A8N-E motherboard with Windows XP Professional.
Weird thing is, I have an older Sony camera which transfers pictures with no problem, even when the pictures are taken at a high resolution setting. And, I can transfer pics from my new camera to other people’s computers with no problem. I suspect it’s a problem with my motherboard. 'Times New Roman']Any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Year! 'Times New Roman']

Have you tried reinstalling the software drivers?

Nope. The software drivers are redundant, because Windows XP installs its own USB drivers to support the camera. Thanks, though.

Not sure about redundant. Digital camera drivers are usually not generic drivers. Yes windows will install what usb drivers it needs, but the actual drivers for the camera software is unique.

Have you tried a different USB Port ....i.e. one at the rear of the Tower, which is straight off the mobo ?

I have found that many PCs with USB ports on the front/side, that work from a motherboard header, will often run at a slower speed (USB1) . My System: Home Build
