Ok, I didnt know where to post this, so dont be too harsh :)

I have windows Vista home premium
3 Gb RAM
500 Gb hdd
Nvid blah blah blah irrelivant
I have Sony Vegas Video installed and thats what Im using to capture.
My pc also has a firewire port, I plug the Mini DV camera in with firewire, and windows does it bleeping noise to tell me that its been detected and its ready to use. I think great, so I open vegas and sure enough it gives me the option of using that cam, I point the cam in the right direction and click capture, it craptures for about 5 seconds then it gives me a "lost contact with the camera" error, I can't use it in any program, windows thinks that its gone. The only way to get it to come back up is by restarting the pc. Also, its exactly the same ammount of time untill it becomes undetected. Movie maker is the same.

There are no drivers available for my camera, I have checked the website, whats wrong? :)

thanks in advanced.

it's just that I've had that problem when I moved the camera a little, but when i placed it on the desk, left it, it then worked, so i guessed mine was a bad cable connection. But it doesn't look like it's that simple for yours if it still happens when it's still.

I'm not sure if it would, have you tired the camera and cable in another computer? or tried a different cable? This could help us find where the problem actually is.

More info:

This morning when I turned my pc on and tried it, the PC didn't detect it, but when I plug the firewire lead into the pc, and plug the other end into the camera, the camera does its beeping noise to say its been connected to a pc. If I unplug the pc end, then the pc does it low pitched beeping noise to say: "Lost connection to the pc" the computer in the meantime hasn't detected anything, but the camera knows its connected!

I tried it on my brothers pc. The computer didn't detect it at all, and neither did the camera. I dont know what to do now :(

Sorry for double posting, but Its possible that my brother's firewire port is turned off in the BIOS or simply not working, its onboard.
