I have recently installed the approved HP Maintenance Kit on my 10 year old HP5000 which has given excellent service over the years.

The fuser and various paper feed rollers have all been replaced.

The problem is that the 'flap' (don't know the correct title!) at the front of the machine which raises new paper to meet the entry rollers does not rise. As a result paper cannot feed and after a few seconds a 'jam' is reported.

I replaced (as part of the Maintenance Kit) the entry roller and the separation pad which all seem linked to the problem but I cannot see what is preventing the spring loaded plate from rising.

Help please, i have a small mountain of work piling up awaiting the printer!
