i am having difficulty installing drivers for my brother 4040cn printer. the connection is usb. i downloaded the software from the manufacturers website. i have a known good cable, so it's not the cable that is the problem. The install was successful, but i am unable to print a test page. it returns with an error. I added a local usb printer port, and am still getting the error.

Can someone please assist me in troubleshooting this issue?
your help is greatly appreciated.

What happens when you unplug the brinter then plug it in again?

Also, right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage". Under "Device Manager" are there any devices with a big yellow "!" through them?

Please no text language.

It shouldn't really make too much difference anyway.

For once I have to dissagree... Although it is always recommended to install the drivers first when you want to conect a new USB device to you PC, it usually doesn't make a difference... unless you're talking about printers. I have had the same problem 3 times in a row with 3 different printers. Each time i connected the printer before installing the drivers I was running into differnet problems. Only whe I installed the drivers first and then connected the printer did I get things to work propperly.

Cheers:
