Default New Canon MP470 won't print selected size

Greetings All: It will print the correct size within 1/16 inch when direct copying, but anything printed from a file picture is about 15% smaller than the selected size in both directions. fwiw, this is with Windows XP and a Dell Dimension 4550. Two previous Lexmark printers had the same problem. However, after a reformat, reinstalling the printers/Adobe, etc., the problem never changed. I called a friend who has an identical MP470 and XP, and he reports the same problem. Canon tech support email suggests a procedure that just takes me to the same page where I select size in the printer menu, so I can't see how that helps. Any ideas? Thanks

This really is only a probem that the Cannon techs are going to be able to sort out...

You need to get them to connect to your PC and show you how to do it.

Have you tried installing the latest drivers?

Canon tech support says this has to be a problem with XP somehow overriding the printer program, but can't suggest a way around it. I can eventually get the size I want by trial and error, but it's such a hassle. I'm more than a little surprised that I can't find info on the problem anywhere. Given the conditions, this can't be an isolated problem.
