Default Problem connecting my Canon scanner

I am having a problem getting my Canon Lide 35 scanner to communicate with my PC.

The driver has installed succesfully and is working fine but when I select an option to perform via the scanner I get the following message on the screen, it`s from-

Windows Image Aquisition Service

& says

`There is no apllication registered for this event`

Can anyone assist?
