Hi there
I have just purchased an Acer aspire 7720 laptop with an intergrated webcam.
The webcam appears to be working,I can see myself on the screen and take still photoes of the image.
When I connect on the net I can see and hear the other person but they can only hear me but not see me. This happens with all connections.
Can anyone help or does the machine have to go back.

I expect you need to update your drivers.

Please download the latest driver from here.

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/noteboo...tax32x64XP.zip

Once it has downloaded you will need to extract it. Right click on it and click Extract Files

Follow through with the extraction wizard. Extracting it to the desktop will be fine.

Once you have extracted it click on the folder that opened. It is called Chicony

Then click on the folder that says V5.7.31.400C_WHQL

Then click on AcerCrystalEyeWebcamVideoClassCam_v5-7-31-400-1-0.exe

If it asks for a restart at the end of the installation process, allow it to do so.

Hopefully that should get it working. Post back on the results.

Hi there Serverguy
have carried out your instructions and webcam is working fine thanks for your help.
you would think that when you buy a new machine that the drivers would be set up so that things actually work(this is tongue in cheek i no that i am being naive)
Thanks again spuddy

No problems.

I agree, manufacturers could install up to date drivers.

Or, failing that, make it easy to find the correct drivers when you have to upgrade. The reason I took a while to get back to you was that I had to email Acer Technical Support to ask what the correct version of the drivers were for your laptop.
They had four different ones available with no information about what was for what.
