I bought a cheap printer and found out the damn ink is more expensive than a new printer. I want to get something that I can just print simple black and white stuff and not get robbed. What printer/ink should I get?

You're missing the point somewhat.

The ink you get with the printer is only filled up a fraction to get you started.

New ink is filled right to the max capacity of the cartridge.

The most cost efficient way to print black/white stuff is a cheap monochrome laser printer.

This one is $90, free shipping, and the best reviewed on NewEgg. Granted, initial cost is high because additional toner is $50 but over the life of the printer you will save loads - 500 pages per cartridge is on the high end for most inkjet printers, whereas this does over 5 times that.

End result is that you save a lot of money over even getting cartridges refilled if you do any sort of moderate printing. Inkjets are sold for cheap so that they can get you on the ink (think refillable razors as the same way), but if you're just going to print b/w don't even bother with an inkjet.

edit: also, turns out it comes with a 1k page toner cartridge, and you can get a Rosewill toner cartridge for $30 as well!
