Hi i have just acquired a 19 inch widescreen Acer LCD monitor which has a recommended resolution setting of 1440 x 900. Unfortunately i cannot select this resolution setting in the "display properties."
I understand that the problem is with the Display Adaptor (video card??) which is undoubtedly a piece of poo, the model is SiS-651C.

Can anyone advise if i am thinking along the right lines here? and if so a good CHEAP card that will support the damn resolution? - dont really want it to do anything else.

Cheers

Yeah, you probably need an independent graphics card.

Have a look round www.ebuyer.com or www.dabs.com and have a look at the specifications.

If you don't need one for games any basic cheap card will do providing it supports that resolution.

Dave.

No problem.

Graphics cards also come in different slots.

Make sure you get the right slot for you motherboard.

AGP or PCI-E.

If your PC is more than a year old you probably need AGP.
