Firstly, nicely spec'd build.

I'm not so familiar with sites on your side of the pond so I've had a look at Newegg and come up with this. With postage it's still within budget.

As you've quoted you're only going to be gaming some of the time I was thinking about a Quadro as these are dedicated cards for CAD/video work but can game on a whim. But for your budget you're not going to get a very powerful one, which you'll need at the resolution of your monitor when gaming.

There's really only one choice and thats the 8800GT as I wouldn't recommend less than 512mb of ram on a card at 1920x1200. You could save some money and get a 256mb version (around $80) but I wouldn't recommend this as it will hold the card back and, also, the more memory the better to be frank when it comes to video editing.

looks good. Although i was planning on getting the Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 Ram and this video card indicates DDR3... Is this going to be a problem? My brothers going to be building this, so i can check with him but i rarely see him so i figure i'd ask. Thanks :)
