Default 19" widescreen vga lcd

Hi guys I have this really really weird problem with my lcd. When i was using a onboard video card it worked fine no problems. Then when I installed a 7900gs i would see the boot up screen then the xp logo screen and after that my monitor would go into standby. I tried booting with a crt worked fine with the 7900gs. Then i realized that if i boot with a crt and hot swap it with the 19 the 19 would work fine. Now i recently built a new comp and had a 8800gt installed. With the 19" i cant even see the boot screen. But now i also realized that if i boot my computer up without plugging in the 19", wait for windows to load then plug in the 19 it would work. But by doing this and hot swapping i have to use a program to force my 1440x900 resolution. Can anyone tell me whats wrong. This monitor works fine with onboard video or probably vga connection video cards. Im using the vga to dvi adapter on the 7900gs and the 8800gt

That certainly sounds strange.
It must be something peculiar to the Monitor itself .... have you tried a different TFT Monitor ?

I tried other monitors and they worked fine. 15" dell lcd and a 19" kds. Yeah it is weird. It works perfectly fine with onboard video.

From what you've described, in summary :

The 19" fails to work on 2 different Towers
The 19" works with On-Board card, but not on PCI-E
Other TFT Monitors work on both
Other CRT Monitors work on both

I would say that narrows it down to the Monitor itself, either having a funny half hour or having a problem, circuitrywise, that stops it coming out of standby, when booting.
Perhaps it has a switching fault or maybe the On-Board card sends a stronger signal or something, that wakes it up, it;s impossible to say.

Looks like the DVI's the problem, get a monitor that supports DVI natively, I suppose.
