Yup Carbon is right, dont leave case opened all the time, thats even worse than having no fans running .

Well if it is the cpu, try resetting bios to default settings, and check that the bios hasnt set some kinda shutdown temp for your cpu. make sure your cpu fan and heatsink is free from any dust , try reseating the cpu again and some fresh thermal paste.Cant be your cpu can it? if you was running the same cpu with your 7900etc and no issues then.

Yup same same here with the games, i run GTREVO and temps on card was very very high ,then i run Fs9 and they didnt go above 44c under load. But maybe in call of duty and fs9 , the card wouldnt have any activity at all , but once you start up a more demanding game, it will start to use the card then.

regards

Ahh good job then If you get same card again and its hi temps, post back, cause i would like to here if so, Mate has 4000 series too and that is really hot aswell, must be common in this range. I ditched the 4670 for that reason too.

And if you are going to fit it, try get an anti static wrist strap , take no chances while working inside a pc case , or ground yourself to the case as best as you can

just to fill you in, i called ebuyer tech support and they think its because the GFX card isnt getting enough power i said i got a 530watt PSU and he then said what you got running on that so i said 2 DVD's, 2 HDD, amd X2, 4 rams and he siad probably PSU so. what do you guys reckon?

I think your cpu wouldnt use that much power and all combined wouldnt really reach 400w , if that tagan 530w is the one i looked at, then that psu could handle the biggest intel quad with a single card setup no problems

I read somewhere onetime and i dont know if these are exact figures,but..

ram about 5> 10w each stick
hdd 13> 20w
dvd drives very little ,about 5> 10 maybe

Cant be your psu unless its ready to kick the bucket

get new card and get it fitted , if it stilll happens, then its for sure needs to be taken to a shop for a good closer look, robin your psu is a well good for yoru setup.

Were you ever actually able to raise the fan speed?

Some of the ATI drivers handled the fan speed very badly, and were always set to like 12.5 percent, which makes them insanely hot by my standards.

There is a hack to raise the fan speed manually:

Not the best of instructions but perfectly useable:

Quote:
if you make a profile in catalyst after turning on Overdrive( make sure clock and memory settings are correct). You can then go to the file "C:\Users\Bretware\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Bretw are. XML. the xml file will have the same name as the catalyst profile you saved. right click and hit edit.

<Feature name="FanSpeedAlgorithm_0">
<Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value="Manual" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedRPMTarget_0">
<Property name="Want" value="0" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedPercentTarget_0">
<Property name="Want" value="65" />

Change the value to "manual" and Want value to "65"

Save the file then reload your profile in catalyst.

65% seemed perfect for me, 70% was loud but you may need it if your case has poor air flow.

You will have to select the profile everytime you start the computer, but it will work until there is a fix or better info so i can figure how to change the auto target temp.
Good Luck ,bretware
