Default 8600GTS vs 9700GTX?
7900GTX out peforms the 8600 GTS in everyway except shading, drivers and power consumption.(look below) For now the 7900GTX will outpeform the 8600GTS by far in DirectX9 but in Direct X10 supported games such as Crysis, it will give the 8600GTS a huge boost because its a shader heavy game and its was built for DirectX10.

Name :7900GTX/8600GTS
Power Use:120W/71W
Shading :15000ops sec/45000ops sec
Drivers :DX9/DX10

its all down to dx10 if you ask me hehehe, what OS you using, if vista go for the 8 series
