oh ok so it would be ok on max setting for most games up to a 24" lcd??
i need to be vigorous so i dont purchase the wrong product

I doubt it, it's billed as a mid-range card.

The x2900 struggles at 1920x1200 (24" screen).

I can't find it in stock, or even stocked, on any uk sites.

Primarily because it's an overpriced piece of junk considering it's billing.

Higher gpu/ram speeds, more you pay.

Will game happily at 1920x1200.

hmmmmm
tough choice now
the mobo i wanted was the new asus ddr3 mobo wich supported crossfire and no other ddr3 motherboards support sli
so i can either get 1 nvidea or 1 ati and have the option to expand to crossfire?

Pretty much all recent chipsets support crossfire (because AMD want more of the market).

Believe me, dual-card is barely worth it; very few games, comparably, are coded to use 2 cards.

And if you purchase two mid range cards you'll be better getting one high-end card because it will perform better than two mid-range cards anyway, and will also offer this performance boost in all games, not just dual-card one's.
