8800GT. Any.

Higher gpu/ram speeds, more you pay.

Will game happily at 1920x1200.

hmmmmm
tough choice now
the mobo i wanted was the new asus ddr3 mobo wich supported crossfire and no other ddr3 motherboards support sli
so i can either get 1 nvidea or 1 ati and have the option to expand to crossfire?

Pretty much all recent chipsets support crossfire (because AMD want more of the market).

Believe me, dual-card is barely worth it; very few games, comparably, are coded to use 2 cards.

And if you purchase two mid range cards you'll be better getting one high-end card because it will perform better than two mid-range cards anyway, and will also offer this performance boost in all games, not just dual-card one's.

At the resolutions you're quoting Cewy you could get away with a 8600GTS but bang for buck the GT is the best card on the market today. It's close in benchmarks to the GTX which is around 50-60% more money.

Getting the GT will also pretty much guarantee high frame rates plus high detail settings in all games.

Nope, stick with the GT.

If you're referring to my quote of the 8600GTS. This is a cheaper card than the GT.

The GT goes from around £180-£230.

It's slightly higher performing than a GT, but higher priced as well.

But again, at the resolution of your screen it's all slightly overkill anyway.

If it was my money?

I'd buy the GT, maybe even a vanilla one (non oc'd) and spend the rest of my loot on an external hdd or something.
