I see that on a hardware stand-point some 2x should be performing very close to their nVidia counterparts, but they do not. Does anyone see AMD getting off their lazy bums and making good drivers for the DX10 cards.

Well since the 2900 is only supposed to compete with the 8800gts I think they have do a reasonable job, considering that it benches around the same and better in some test!

I know but it seems like AMD is not paying attention to their lower cards at all. The 2600 and 2400 are getting no credibility and no work done on drivers, the 2600 should be up and close with the 8600 GT and maybe even GTS when you are looking at the specs, but then when you put it under the test it just fails and this could surely be nothing else other than the drivers.

I think AMD/ATi have definitely taken their eye off the ball recently.

Intel and nVidia are certainly stretching the gap, some may argue their hardware is just as good but their marketing definitely isn't and that is just as important IMO.
