I use ATIAs for vista? I would go Nvidia because Nvidia makes cards that are awesome for graphic intense programs, like Vista.

I'm a nVidia fan myself, but then its a bit like the AMD / Intel debate, part of it is personal choice and part of it is down to when you buy, they all take the lead then drop to second place almost all the time.

To be frank, sod the brand. Go for bang for buck and grunt.

Pixel pipes, rops, vertex shaders, gpu speed, ram speed, power usage. Except for power; the more the merrier :)

They're both great brands. If it were up to me, I would go with nvideo, just more of a gamers pick..

I prefer nVidia. That's what I run on all my machines. They work great for everything from spreadsheets to Warcraft:Burning Crusade!

I'm looking forward to seeing the benches on the AMD / ATI R600 - and the Radeon X2800XTX just hoping the release of the new card will be soon in the UK.

I generally buy the top of the line of the previous generation during the week of the new generations release. I save a bundle that way!

Maria,
The tuth is that it's pretty rare that there is a sweeping change or that the latest is all the different than the top of the last generation. When there is, certainly get the new one. But far more likely is that the midrange of the new generation is just the previous generation top repackaged.

Just read all the specs before you make your decision.
