Why all the discussion?

By spec's alone the best card currently on the market is the 8800 Ultra.

But if you want to take cost into it (which I would) then you're talking a looooong thread.

Then if you ask for the best graphic's card for a prescribed resolution, the thread will then become longer.

Ask another question; regarding 3rd party manufacturers (XFX, BFG etc) who tend to overclock reference cards from Nvidia and AMD and this thread won't stop.

Well no, but as cost:spec ratio, i'd go with the 8600 as i can't afford the 8800
