ilop is right but saying that the 9600gt needs 312W of power is ludicrous.

buying a reliable brand-name PSU would be my first move

yeah if it works with your other card it seems that your power supply is underpowered. what brand and model is it? if you can, look at power supplies from corsair or thermaltake. what parts do you have? i really dont think you need 750 watts.

Right... Looking at Corsair and Thermaltake website and for the specs of their PSU and seems to me if I want to get a PSU powering 22A on a 12V rail I need at least 1000 watts???
How does that work?

Haha, no. You don't need that much power, and W = V x A so 22A = 312W.

Grab a Corsair 400CX.

okay, makes a bit more sense , cheers...
but have another problem now: just deinstalled driver and took out graphics card, put old card back in but now i got an error message after boot up saying out of range. okay, i didn't set the resolution down before (guess thats the problem) but how do I get screen back to work? Auto adjusting doesn't do it, all i get is funny stripes and colours reminding me remotely of my desktop background...

Try booting in Safe Mode then setting the resolution there.

Tried that, but instead of the normal safe mode screen I got a selection of where i want to boot from (floppy, cd, hdd) not what or how. And it doesn't matter as to what i select, just goes on as normal and ends up in a blank screen with wee little message out of range...

okay, managed to eventually get into safemode, was a bit to eager and pressed F8 to early.
All done though with deinstalling drivers an dother nvidia components. PSU should arrive tomorrow.
Hopefully that sorted all problems (power and dll). Fingers crossed!

hmmm... PSU arrived and seems to be workin (very quiet, nice - might have to replace case fan now its noisy compared to PSU) but no display!!!! AAAARGH!!!
Card and driver cd both placed in correct places in computer - powered up but no boot up screen appears, just a message "no signal detected". Any idea why that is?
