Default Chipsets

Hi :)
I have gotten a bit confused on chipsets (on the motherboard).
I' am currently going to buy a cpu, motherboard and graphics card, and the graphics card i wanted to get was the ATI Radeon 2900 HD (Avivo i think), considering i have Vista, so i won't to make the use out of Direct X 10.
Anyway, im not sure if it is me who has gotten confused here, or just that i have gotten things mixed up, but what chipset is required on the motherboard for the ATI Radeon 2900 HD series, is it AMD Crossfire 580X, AMD 690 Series, an ATI Chipset or does it not matter of which?
AMD Crossfire series would by my guese considering it says Here that
"To complete the CrossFire™ platform, a second ATI Radeon™ HD 2900 graphics card, a CrossFire™ Ready motherboard "
However, in the Chipsets part of the site Here
It mentions "AMD 690 Series Chipset features Avivo™ technology".
Which confused me, so does it matter which chipset is on the motherboard, or is it something that i have confused myself about?
Thank you for the help :)
