I'm looking for a video card for a computer I'm going to be building soon, but can't really decide which would be best. I'd like to spend around 150$ and have it be a decent card that I will be able to play most/all games on. I had a link to this one http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814102810 when it was 169$ but now at $203 I'm not sure if it's worth it even though it has the specs I want.

Any advice helps

Carbon, who wrote the tutorial I'll link below on hardware, and who all of us regulars look to for hardware advise says that is the best card for the money on the market right now. If you can stretch the extra 50 bucks, go for it. Otherwise, look at the link below and see what he says for a less expensive card.

http://www.computer-juice.com/forums...posting-22013/

Edit: I see in that tutorial, he is no longer saying the 4870 is the best card for the money. I suggest you read it.

EDIT2: LOl he posted the same time I did. Ignore me, read what he says.

4770/4850 at lower res, GTX 260 at higher res if you don't mind rebates.

If you buy something from Newegg and send in a rebate you void the warranty on that product.

How can this be? Read the fine print where? I'm not challenging what you know, just seeking information and clarification. How can a rebate void a manufacturer warranty?

Edit: Nevermind, I found it:

Mail In Rebate Policy

Products missing UPC codes or serial numbers from the box are NOT returnable.

Products offering mail-in rebates are not returnable to Newegg.com once the rebates have been filed. Be sure that the product is functional and that you intend to keep the product before sending in for your rebate. Products missing UPC codes or serial numbers from the box are NOT returnable. Only the product manufacturer can replace any defective item missing the UPC code.

but you can still RMA them to the manufacturer if they crap out on you.

Yeah, you only have 30 days afterward anyway, what's to stop someone from taking the UPC off and then returning the thing and pocketing the difference? That's kind of a dumb reason not to buy something, all NewEgg's RMA service is intended to do is make sure the product is not damaged in shipping/DOA.

a lot of things can happen in 30 days. The reason why is simply this- fraud.

If you buy something, send in a rebate for, idk, say, $30, send the item back, get a refund, then later get the rebate money, you just made $30.

they do this to prevent it.

No, it really isn't.

I'm a bit confused with this but I think you are misunderstanding Cheesepuff.

What Carbon is saying is that yes you loose the ability to RMA the produce straight to NewEgg, but that ability goes after 30 days anyway.

However, you can still send it back the the manufacturer if it packs up. And most of the time this is just as easy as sending it back to NewEgg, and most of the time they will send a courier to pick it up.

Then they fix it and send it back to you, UPC code or not.

So you don't actually loose the warranty.

And if the item is smashed on shipping to you, you just send it back before you file the rebate.
