A integrated GFX card steals it's resources from the CPU and RAM.

A stand alone GFX card has it's own CPU and RAM leaving the other, main CPU and RAM do do their normal duties.

But why would that matter?

My integrated has a better spec than one of the standalone ones so i dont understand how it doesnt perform as good?

Ive got an AMD x2 3800+ and 2.5GB 667Mhz ram so my system could easily cope with it!

my integrated gfx has a 425mhz gpu which is better than standalone, it uses my systems 667 ram which is better than the other gfx cards ram, mine has 512mb buffer! How is it not as good? Why doesnt it perform better? Ant...

Of course it matters.

It's like putting a caravan on the back of your sports car, yes it can handle it but It definitely would be better to get a separate, more suitable car to pull it.

One of the GFX card geeks will explain it better.
