Default Confusing Monitor Problem. I'm Boggled!

ok so i decided to upgrade my ram..
and replace my heat sync fan

so went out and bought both of them

came back and replaced the ram first

then i took out the previious heat sync fan..and put in the new one...i did put a bit of power into this work..moving on..

as soon as i booted up the computer..there were these long vertical black lines on the screen throughoout..from the beginning of the boot all the way to the windows xp load screen it had vertical lines, it had these long blak vertical lines throughout the screen....and then after the load screen..the monitor just dyes out and the LED on the monitor starts blinking..when i restart. same thing happens, i tried hooking up another monitor to it..same problem on that monitor..im guessing the problem is somewhere in the CPU...can someone please help me out.

thanks a lot..

i might have not grounded myself before touching the insides of the computer...

i changed the WHOLE thing..and the thermal paste was already on the new heatsink..so yes i did re apply..and it did smudge A BIT..not much at all..so i dunno...

As you have changed both the RAM and the Heatsink, it' difficault to pinpoint the problem from your description.

Try removing the new RAM and replacing the original RAM, this will help narrow it down.

Refresh rate is wrong, driver's wrong, or you fried the graphics card.
