I just bought a 9800GX2 and it is reaching temps of 85*C. I know this is normal for this card as people can even fry an egg off this card. The heat from this card, however, is bothering me as it literally heats up my entire room. I am looking for an inexpensive way to cool my card to perhaps 70*C.
At first I was thinking of adding a few Scythe Kaze Maru fans to my CM690 case as I am currently only using the stock fans. My bro then suggested in finding an actual VGA cooler. I've been looking around but I cannot find a VGA cooler compatible with the 9800GX2. I am wondering if it would be more effective for me to add a couple more fans to my case, or should I go get a VGA cooler and if so which one? |

What you want to do defies the laws of physics.
You cannot get rid of the heat.... impossible. By adding more fans etc all you are going to do is take the heat away from the card.... and blow it into the room, leaving the card cooler.... and the room probably even HOTTER. But, it is still a good idea to cool it from 85 as that is pretty hot for my liking. A dedicated VGA cooler would be best, as well as plenty case fans.
