I'm planning on building a computer with quite high-end components, like Quad Core or Core 2 Extreme processor and 4gb+ RAM.

Could anyone recommend a good video card for gaming to go with this kind of set up? I don't really need one for extreme gaming as such, just a good card for as cheap as i can get it.

Can anyone enlighten me?

It depends on three things, namely the resolution of the monitor you're going to be getting, do you want DX10 gaming? and your budget.

Also, 4gb ram is overkill. The majority of os's can't make use of 4gb. 2gb of ram will more than suffice, even gaming on Vista. Rule of thumb for a gaming build: 800mhz for a dual core, 1066mhz for a quad.

Thanks for the tip on the RAM. I don't really have a budget, just nothing ridiculously expensive that's not worth the money.

I'm not sure about the screen res. It could be around 1280x800 possibly though. And DX10 gaming would be good, yes.

Yeah, that one sounds good. I'll be sure to keep a note of that one then.
