right the msi 8600gt card i bought has dot express with it

(dynamic overclocking technology)

now apparently to use this software i must install the MSI display drivers rather than nvidia

nvidia apparently stops the use of this software

http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2146

scroll down to dot and it explains it in the first paragraph.

has anybody overclocked with this technique?

i can see installing msi drivers will conflict with my nvidia so whats the best way to stop any conflict?

the fact i have value ram installed on my motherboard, will it be affected by OC'in my graphics card?

i read OC'in is bad when using value ram, but im not sure if they meant when overclocking your ram or your card

cheers guys!

cheers Dai!

there shouldn't be an issue with the ram i use though would there?

EDIT

they use a program called ntune as you've most likely already read.

id prefer that than to muck about with my drivers

No you should be fine.

Overclocking a CPU will need good RAM as FSB speeds increase which puts extra load on the memory.

As far as I know, a GPU overclock will not effect any other part.

And I'd use the nTune nvidia software regardless of any MSI DOT stuff, I doubt it will make much difference.

Aside from needing more juice from the psu, correct.
