I have two nVidia 9800GX2's running in SLI. I am using Vista Ultimate 64. I recently downloaded the beta drivers for my card and OS from the nVidia site here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvist...7.92_beta.html

I am periodically crashing while playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky (different crash than before for those of you familiar with my clear sky woes lol) and getting a fault from both bugtrap and Vista that basically says "you have just recovered from a video driver fault."

I don't get that error from any other game including the earlier S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. in fact I got the same error message from Shadow BEFORE i downloaded the 177.92 beta version but not since.

Should I conclude perhaps that the fault is in this buggy Clear Sky game or is it symptomatic of a problem with my download? The first time I attempted to install the 177.92 beta I used driver sweeper first and rebooted. As soon as I restarted Vista automatically started "installing drivers for your hardware" and installed a previous WHQL version from April (which has since been updated by nVidia). I don't know where Vista got this driver and i couldn't stop the installation. As such, I waited for Vista to finish and reboot, then installed the beta one on top of it. Could this be my problem? And how the %$&%^^#$%'ing heck do i turn off that automatic driver install feature on Vista64? I had it turned off before, but one of the idiots from Microsoft tech support turned it back on for me without my knowledge.

Thanks. Since no one seems to have a clue can you direct me to a site where someone might?

has this been going on since the 1st time you have tried to play all of these games??

Have you tried to rollback to a previous graphics card driver???

i had issues with the latest driver for my card and gaming, so i rolled back and the issues were resolved....just a thought...
