Default Dual Screen NEED HELP please

Hello, I am new to these forums but think its a great idea and would love to become a part of it! my name is Mike and i have a problem...
I have a Emachine t4080 and it comes with an intel graphics controller. Now I wanted to run a dual screen set up so I bought a Radeon ATI 9550 AGP Video card. I thought I could run two monitors if i had two cards, but when I go into Display --> Settings, there is only the ATI card listed. Then I checked out the device manager and it only showed the Radeon ATI card... No intel graphics controller. So I took out the ATI card and rebooted to find that now my computer shows the intel graphics card in device manager.

My question is, why is it that as soon as I plug in my ATI card, the device manager stops reconizing the default, stock card? and then how can i run both at the same time so that I can run Dual screen????
Any tips or advice is much appreciated.
~mike

Your motherboard probably disables the onboard graphics automatically when you install a card in the AGP slot. You would not be able to use both. You can get graphics cards that support two monitors. Does your card have two outputs ie DVI and VGA?
