DVi vs. VGA connectors You're correct DVI connectors do send a digital signal, they allow a tft screen to refresh itself how it's designed to; progressively. VGA, or analogue, will only allow an analogue, or interlaced, refresh.
Notebooks generally come with VGA because they've only got limited room on the chassis for ports and people tend to want more usb connectors, firewire etc. As a VGA connector is physically smaller than a DVI this usually gets the nod.
