With the DX10 when I play games my cursor doesn't work right with either card. When I point to a menu option, it highlights one three or four choices down the screen. What's up with that? To get one of the top menu items, I'm pointing way above the menu until something highlights. Any thoughts? For more of what I'm talking about look at this thread: http://www.computer-juice.com/forums...-issues-19276/ |

Sounds like a broken resolution thing. If you're playing in windowed, try full screen, if in full screen try windowed, or try reducing the res.

But with the computer build I have, shouldn't I be able to play anything maxed out? I mean I have an older monitor which maxes out at 1600X1200. Getting broken stuff to play isn't my goal if you know what I mean. I want to find out what is broken and get it fixed. I was playing games at that res on my old computer which was a dell with a pent4 and a 2600 HD ATI card, 1 GB ram. Something ain't right here.
Should I just wave the white flag and take it to a shop lol? |

Just so we're clear: this happens in _other_ DX10 games, NOT just STALKER?
STALKER is notoriously buggy, especially Clear Sky, so..

Yes, it happens in other DX10 games. I couldn't even get the cursor to work in Clear Sky. I was unable to use it for the game text needed to progress the game when playing. I figured that was just buggy Clear Sky.
It originally happened in Crysis, but I figured I had configuration problems and played it in DX9 mode. I had the same driver failures and crashes i was experiencing in Stalker Clear Sky and now in Crysis Warhead. I also seem to remember turning off the SLI mode to finish the original Crysys. However, since I took out one of my cards, it has not crashed. When i first experienced the DX10 problem with my first card, I immediately swapped it out with the other. I used driver sweeper and re installed the drivers like the EVGA tech rep said to do. It has the same DX10 problem but isn't crashing with the driver error. I don't know if the other one would have crashed because I didn't give it enough time before replacing it. Also as the game progresses, it bogs down and gets laggy, like someone in an online game with a ping of 999 lol. When I ran the benchmark test from the benchmark thread here a last week, I also got very low vid scores. I figured then i just did something wrong on the test. I guess this is what happens when a moron like me jumps in with no knowlege and builds a "super computer" lol. I think I've had either a bad card or a bad board all along, but lacked the experience to know it. I've been thinking my BIOS setting just weren't right. I'm rather frustrated. Is there an online program to test my video cards that is accurate? EDIT: Now that I think about it, I couldn't get HALO II to work well either. I finally just stopped playing it before getting 1/4 of the way through. |

I really don't know. I've had this problem when changing from windowed to fullscreen in a game based on the Source engine, where since everything is resized I have to put my cursor above or below around 50px for it to register on something.
One more question - are you using a dual monitor setup? If so, check Windows and make sure one monitor is not set to being higher than the other.

Nope single monitor.
I don't know how large 50 px is, but I have to go roughly 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches above the menu item I want. Also like clear sky, i can't use the cursor in game, but they have options so you don't have to. Thanks for trying. Wish I knew a diagnostic (free lol) program for a vid card and/or DX10. It's not so much that I don't want to spend the money getting this fixed as much as I hate to have to wave the white flag and admit defeat........ |

whoops i accidently linked to your other thread and posted this there when i meant to post it here.....
has this been going on since the 1st time you have tried to play all of these games?? Have you tried to rollback to a previous graphics card driver??? i had issues with the latest driver for my card and gaming, so i rolled back and the issues were resolved....just a thought... |

Yeah, I've rolled back to the old drivers and moved forward to the beta drivers as well lol.
It has been happening since the beginning of the computers life lol. |
