The 8800 Ultra will be the first card made obsolete by the 9 series, specifically the 9800GX2. I wouldn't pay the money for an Ultra when you could SLI two 8800GTs or just wait for the GX2 (which will have two onboard GPUs using probably the G92 process used for the newer 8800s). Its expected retail is only about $450 (229 pounds) so you could SLI those for the same price as one of the Ultras (usually MSRP is broken for high-demand cards but I don't expect the 9800GX2 to have the sort of "must-buy-it" market the GT did where prices were inflated about 10% above).
