Hi guys,

I can't extend my desktop to my second monitor on my main desktop PC. On my laptop, when I right click on the desktop and click properties, go to settings, there are 2 black squares with the numbers 1 and 2 in them representing the laptop LCD and the external TFT. I click on number 2, and put a tick in the box extend my desktop to this monitor.

I can't do this on my desktop. It only sees there as being 1 monitor (both are plugged in). If I do it via the nvidia control panel then it actually stretches the desktop over the 2 (the taskbar runs all across the bottom). I don't want this as when I maximize a window it takes up both screens - which is not what I want. I want to be able to have two maximized windows open - one on each screen.

Hope that makes sense and my card is the XFX 8600GTS 512MB.

Thanks

Tom

I think you should be able to change how your monitors are aranged in the nvidia control panel, however I am unsure exactly how as my card is an ATI but on mine there are options on how to have the duel monitor working, I say just play around in the control pannel till you find what your looking for.

I have hunted round so much and the only options are single, clone, or horizontal span (using both monitors as 1 display and stretching it across both which I don't want).

They are the latest drivers so surely it can't be a driver issue can it?

I wouldn't think it was a driver issue, as there just isn't an option to do that, has the driver you installed got all the extras with it? with my ATI you can download the driver on it's own, or the driver with the "catalyst control center" it might be similar for nvidia.
