Relative of mine has a tiny Dell-proprietary little desktop that has space for one low-profile AGP and one low-profile PCI. The system itself is about as large as an Xbox 360.
He doesn't do mainstream gaming, only relatively old racing games which he usually can run at OK framerates (with a 82865G). He wants to put a new card in. Right now I've been looking at the FX 5200 and the X1050 as options. There's a 6200 for about $60, too, but it's not "natively" low-profile and so I'd be a little worried about getting a bracket and fitting it. The X1050 is much more expensive (around $80), while I can get the 5200 for $20 or so. There's not much of a difference, is there? He's running everything on a card without T&L, so I assume unless the jump is pretty high it's not worth it to get the X1050. Not sure about these old cards, so any help would be appreciated.

Considering the spec needed to run older (few years?) racing games a 5200 will do nicely. I used to own the 256mb AGP version and I never had any issues running Command and Conquer Zero Hour on it.
The pricing you're quoting for the X1050 looks very high to be honest. UK pricing puts the 128mb version at £15, which is around $30 U.S at current exchange rates. I only mention this because $80 seems rather expensive.
