Default game problems, believe it's the graphics card

Hi all, this is my first post on the site, and I don't know too much about computers. I recently bought Oblivion for the PC, and I can install it fine, but when i put in the cd and hit the "play" on a little title screen that pops up, the title screen disappears and a get a little box in the corner, but in like 3 seconds i get the microsoft error message "the program has encountered an error and needs to close." I read the post about minimum requirements, but i think i exceed them in every aspect with maybe the exception of my video driver.

The game requires:
512 Mb RAM
2.0 GHZ PENTIUM 4 OR EQUIVALENT PROCESSOR
128 MB DIRECTX3D COMPATIBLE DRIVER
8X DVD ROM DRIVE

I'm trying to run it on my laptop, with:
1GB RAM
INTEL CENTRINO MOBILE RATED AT 2.54 GHZ
Mobile Intel(R) 82915GM/GMS/910GML Express Chipset family, 128MB
DVD-ROM DRIVE

if you think it is the video driver, is there any way i can update it? looking at the requirements, this game looks similar to DOOM 3, and I could run DOOM 3 with no problems on this laptop. What do you think??

You're not going to be able to run Oblivion on your setup, even on low.

The "minimum requirements" that are listed on games boxes are the absolute minimum needed to get the game to load. This artifically widens the market for buyers, creating larger profits for the makers. It's a very cynical attempt at con'ing people into buying products.

The gpu you have is an integrated chipset (which you can't upgrade) it isn't a dedicated card. It also eats into your system ram, meaning you have less to run the game.

The game has a different engine to Doom3, it's very very graphics intensive and requires a dedicated gpu to run at bare minimum details/frame rates.

I was actually able to find a loophole, for anyone who is having similar troubles, there is a website called oldblivion.com and there is download that enables me to run the game. It sacrifices a lot of the visual effects, but I think it's worth it.
