Default Gateway - Black Screen.

I have a 17" Gateway monitor. Model Number: FPD1830 ..It's only 4 years old. In the last few months, when I turned the computer on, my screen would blink rapidly and I would have to keep turning the monitor on and off, until the screen would finally stay steady.

Now... the screen will only turn on for a split second and then go black. Is there any way to fix this? Or is it junk? It's not the cord.. I took the cord from my tower and plugged it into my monitor, still the same.

Thanks,
Amanda

Default Gateway - Black Screen.

Hi Amanda.

Frankly, I think it's new-monitor time. I reckon it's had it.

On the upside though, tft screens are very cheap nowadays, especially the 4:3 ratio variety as more and more widescreen models are becoming mainstream.

Have a look at Acer's range. They do a model 1916, 19" 4:3 ratio. Very cost effective with good contrast and brightness.

Apologies I couldn't give you better news.

Default Gateway - Black Screen.

That's quite sad for me. I have another monitor, it's a 15"... I just didn't want to go down 2 inches... I can't believe a monitor can go out, only after a few years. I've had the 15" longer too.. blah.

Thanks for your reply!
