Hi,

I am wanting to update my current graphics card - GeForce 8500 GT to the GeForce 9800 GT, but my current card uses DDR2 memory while the 9800 uses GDDR3 memory. I am now aware that there is no correlation between GDDR and DDR memory, but my computer takes DDR2 RAM and some graphics cards use DDR3, is this an issue? Also can anyone reccomend which card model and where it is available cheap (In Pounds). I have a Foxconn N15235 motherboard if this helps.

Also if you feel any other cards in the same price bracket would be better for me please state. I am yet to look fully at the ATI range.

Thanks.

There are no issues if the gpu has different memory from the cpu/motherboard as each use thier own and do not mix,
would have a better idea of card for you if you could give us your price you want to spend

ATI has the low-midrange locked up. Even a 4830 which is their budget card would beat it, and is cheap as well. The 4850 is the best price/performance right now though. The 9800GT is just a nVidia rehash of an older card as they have nothing to compete with ATI on right now: their GTX die is way too big to shrink down for the budget market. ATI built their R700 from the bottom up, so it's very scalable.
