So I could have 2 of the 256MB XFX 7900GT Extreme card running in my system? Again, at that price I might as well buy 2!

From Nividia website

NVIDIA® SLI™ technology can be enabled for every gaming application. In addition, to provide the optimal 'out-of-box' experience, NVIDIA has created an extensive set of over 500 custom application profiles which enable SLI technology automatically and optimize scaling performance. These optimized applications, shown below, are enabled automatically with no control panel changes required.

They're not lying, you've just got to read the quote Social has posted very carefully as it causes the reader to infer things rather than just seeing the stark reality:

"NVIDIA® SLI™ technology can be enabled for every gaming application" Well, yeah, course it can. If it couldn't be enabled there would be little point having it. But its the "can be" you need to be looking at in this sentence because it doesn't say "is".

In reality not very many games are coded for SLI. Not in comparison to the number of titles out there. Plus, even when you buy a game that is Nvidia's SLI drivers have always been buggy, well, more often than not anyway.

Bah! Ok, so if you were in my position with my motherboard and all my other components, would you buy a single high spec graphics card or would you buy 2 normal spec ones? I don't really wanna spend anythin over £150.

If it was my money? I'd go for a single card because all games will support it, not just some. Plus you can get more card for your money if buying a single card.

Also, even when you have an SLI-enabled game, you very rarely see a 100% increase in performance, its usually around 30-40%. So why not just buy a single card that's 30-40% faster than the card you're going to get two of? (to keep it simple).

Oops, firstly, what resolution are you gaming at?

If it's 1440x900/1280x1024 (17-19" screen) I'd just stick with the card I've already quoted. You won't get a better spec for that money, and you'll get a superb card. You'll also be well under budget.

I have 2 monitors, 1 is 17" and the other is 15". Im not gonna be using dual screen either. I can't remember what graphics card the link took me to either because it isn't working now for me!

Okay, as your monitor (the 17") has a 1280x1024 resolution anything above the card i've quoted previously is going to be overkill as you're never going to use the power it has.

For your resolution I'd highly recommend a 7900GT/7950GT/7900GTX or X1950pro/X1950XT.

I'm quoting both Nividia and AMD cards as i'm unsure whether or not you have a brand preference.

If it was me? and i could find one I'd have the XT but that will pretty much take you to your budget limit. Here

Plus the stock ATI cooler on it is very very loud and the card needs a lot of power.

Second choice (and at half the price) would be the card I quoted you initially.

Kept noseying around to try and beat the price of the first xt I found for you.

Came across this

Third party cooler and if the db rating is anything to go by then it's quiet.

Whilst it is more expensive than the 7900GT I quoted, its well within budget.

I'd be going for this.
