Hello. I am planning on buying a new PC and have a choice of two graphics cards. I wanted to know what graphics card would be best for Maya, After Effects and video editting.

768MB nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX

or

256MB nVidia Quadro FX 3500

Thanks

Even though the Quadro is only 256MB when the GeForce is 768 ?

I assumed by your first post that by 'after effects' you meant motion graphics, visual effects etc.

If that's the case, and considering the architecture of the quadro then yup, its your best bet.

The masses of ram on standard graphics cards are primarily used for textures, but more so nowadays AA and AF. You won't require this considering the usage stated. Believe me, the 256mb will more than suffice. And it will also be sufficient for any video editing.
