Hey guys

I'm a newbie to computers so go easy on me.

I recently bought a graphics card ( geforce 256mb PCI ). Not the best card out there but suits my old PC down to the ground. I have an old 15" TFT monitor and everytime I turn my machine on the monitor shuts itself off. It won't turn back on unless I shut my machine down. I was wondering if there is a fault with the card, or that my monitor is not good enough.

Any suggestions?

Hi tosh4574
What exact type of card is it and did you remove the old drivers before installing the new ones?

It's a GeForce 5200 256mb PCI card. I uninstalled the drivers via device manager.

Were you using onboard graphics before you got this card?
If so try disabling the onboard in the bios

have tried that aswell. card comes up in the bios. I can switch between onboard and card. onboard has bad resolution which means I have uninstalled the drivers.
