| I am having problems with my 9800GX2. I am running dual display in WindowsXP SP3 32-bit. As a result, I am only using one of the two cores. I was playing Borderlands earlier today when my primary screen (the one displaying Borderlands) began flickering. My computer stalled for a few seconds (I could tell because my other monitor showed an analog clock widget which stopped for 20 secs or so), and then the game crashed. I rebooted my computer and tried to play Borderlands again but the same thing happened. I rebooted for a third time and noticed that my main monitor has a bunch of green dots while my secondary monitor is unaffected. I went to uninstall my driver (I was using 174), and installed the 191. Now, it seems that Windows is only detecting my second (secondary) monitor and not my first (primary) monitor as Windows shows up only on my secondary monitor. In addition, green dots are still appearing on my primary monitor even though Windows does not detect it. I also ran a video card stability test and the computer crashed and reported the error saying something like 'nv4_disp stuck in an infinite loop'. I am wondering how can I fix this problem, or do I need to send my card in for repair? |

| If you're not getting overheating, it sounds like the card is having video memory issues and you should probably return it for replacement/repair.

| Tnx. I am wondering how come it is only effecting one of my two displays? |

| Sure the display isn't itself at fault? Tried switching them and seeing whether the green dots show off on the other one?

| Yup. I have already switched up my monitors and the problem is still there. Also, on the monitor with the green dots, I have tried manually configuring the monitor and when it shows the text and images from the monitor, the green dots are behind them. |

| Only possible culprit is the card, then.

| I'm just wondering why it is effecting only one of my two displays though? The way I have my card set up, I am only using one of the two cores, so if there is a problem wouldn't it effect both of my monitors? I dunno if I am making any sense. |

| It's possible there's a fault in one of the TMDS modules on the board, causing an issue with one of the DVI plugs.

| The 9800GX2 has three outlets - 2 DVI and 1 HDMI. What if I were to use 1 DVI and 1 HDMI. Could that be a possible solution other then sending it in for repairs? |

| It's likely that the HDMI uses whatever TMDS isn't in use by the other DVI, so if you plug in via HDMI, it will use the faulty path and you'll get the dots..but you might as well give it a shot if you have an adapter.
