OK, I didn't no whether to post this here or in something to do with graphics or monitors but thought i'd start here, if no-one can help, i'll re-post ![]() Anyway my question: I am hoping to soon buy an LG GGW-H20L ( http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/351712...+Internal+SATA) Reader/Re/Writer along with a Philips 19PFL4322 ( ) HD Ready TV (My current monitor is just a standard built-for-a-computer one )I will be putting the drive into the middle slot on my Dell Inspiron 531 and using my current monitor as the primary and the widescreen philips as a secondary one for films or TV. But an un-reliable and not incredibly computer-literate friend told me that the video output would only be truly HD if I were to output the signal through either HDMI or Y Pb and Pr, however my 531 has neither the HDMI or the Compnent connection and I was under the impression that I would be able to send it through DVI to the Widescreen Philips and use VGA for my standard computing stuff on the old monitor.. Who is right!? And if my friend is right is there anyway I can do this? A PCI Component card perhaps?

| Your friend has informed you correctly, you will need to invest in a new graphics card wih the HDMI port. I am not sure if your board supports PCI Express but the ather doing a few searchs I found a few cards but they were only the PCI-E interface

OK, I'm confused now, DVI will support the HD? And I don't even know if the TV has a DVI socket..

If the tv doesn't have a DVI connection you can buy a DVI - HDMI convertor but I am not sure if the output will be HD quality

Yeah, I knew I could get the DVI-HDMI, but my problem is whether the DVI will actually be High Def... Theres no point of it all if is just gonna end up standard..

Done a little bit of research and according to many people you should get a HD signal from the DVI port but for viewing HD films on your PC, you will need a HDCP capable graphics card, HDCP capable TV/monitor, a HD aware media player software (latest PowerDVD or WinDVD) and a BluRay or HD-DVD drive.

OK, thanks! Erm.. drive and monitor are OK.. Is the latest of Windows Media Center HDCP? And I've just had a dig in my Nvidia Control panel which says its fine for HD.. annoyingly it answers my DVI question as well which I didn't realise... Thanks again for you help!
