hi all,
im getting close to purchasing the parts for my new build.
im getting a 4850, and i was wondering if the manufacturer of the board matters, the brands im looking at are: Sapphire, Palit and Gainward.
the cards are all within $7 of each other. so, does the manufacturer determine relability, overclocking potential etc????

im currently leaning towards the sapphire as it has a dual slot cooler instead of the reference one.

Have a look at the specs, certain things may be different, some may already be factory overclocked. Then there are things like build quality and reliability, some may have a bet fan than others. Etc.

all the specs ar5e identical except for the cooler on the sapphire, which is bigger and i assume better.

i ruled the palit card off the list, seems a lot of people have had trouble with them.

Sapphire have been making ATi cards for yonks. I would probably go for them. The better fan also seems a good reason to do so.

Thanks for the tips fellas! I have the Nvidia Geforce 8500GT right now but, I think I will be looking at the Saphire now!

is the 4830 model pretty decent? I don't know if I can come up with the funds for the 4850 or not. I'm half awake I thought we were talking about the 4830 Lol!

4830 is an excellent card, you can overclock it to near 4850 speeds too.

I think I will give the 4830 a go when funds allow. due to having Glaucoma, every bit of detail sure helps. I'm glad I was able to get this 24" monitor
