| You only need a bells and whistles PC for high end gaming, and I'd simply recommend a PS3 for gaming, I've never used my PC for gaming, and the amount of cooling needing to do so, the whirring fans would burn my brains. |

| You can pretty much control fan noise though Sparky; how you mount the fans, fan choice, airflow for lower rpm, fan controller etc

And they can game on a whim. But you'll get by for both purposes with a decent 'standard' gpu.

| i hear the Quadro are horrible for gaming but awesome for Cad. but CAD also could use a nice new CPU tune up as well.

| So......! hehe, i've got a PS3 (just wish you cold play such games as Rail Sim and FSX on it). I am really more into Train Sim and working with Auto CAD so would a low end computer still be ok for running these things with a good graphic card? I could go out and build myself one for around maybe £400? BTW!!!! My port is a AGP |

I use my PC simply for PC stuff, if you know what I mean, that is why I've fallen behind a bit with my spec, as to upgrade now I'd need a complete new build. Not that long ago it was a top pc, but then so was my 486DX4100, with 32 meg ram, 2 gig Video and 600 meg HDD, not to mention the super fast 8x CD Rom lol, but this was 1994 (end of with win 95) |

| It all depends on your take on "noisy". What's typical ambient noise in a room? (at which point fan noise will become intrusive unless you're gaming or listening to music). 20dba? Whilst fans can't really shift a lot of air at rpm's that cause this noise level, they can run to this noise level. Ambient temps and whether or not the fans are dynamically controlled affects this of course. Also, fan size is a major factor. But it can be done. G'awd, that last takes me back. I still remember building a p120 that cost over £1500.

| I guess I should just then keep to what i've got!!!! Auto CAD and my other lighting programes cost me that in the first place haha! In that case could you tell me if I got a 256mb card would that make the graphics a little better? and do you know of any? |

| A 256 should do you fine, and any nVidia would do, I have an ASUS FX5200/128 does me. Never tried Radeon. |
