FSX is not GPU intensive a 8600 GT only runs 3FPS less then a 8800 ULTRA its will only show if you have high resolutions/filtering its the CPU that counts and RAM, youll need a mid range 256mb 1.5GB of ram and at least a 3.6GHZ P4 as AMD doesnt work well wit FSX and youull play it at about med-high 15-25FPS lol I looked that all up but ya.....( GPU Toms Hardware and Forums)

Hi bliz

Sorry to say but the fact is the build you are running is old, you quote £400 some posts back for that you can buy a Barebones system - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2048MB DDR2 800MHz Dual Channel,Chipset nVidia 680 Sli, MOBO is PCI-E for the GPU and you can add to as cash allows, the one in the pic below is priced at £445

Blazing, not to be funny here, but that's poppycock.

At what resolution does a 8600GT run FSX only 3fps less than an Ultra? 640x480? FSX is extremely gpu intensive, why'd you think they keep patching it?

15-25fps is barely playable on any game. 25fps should be the bare minimum or the stuttering (for want of a better word) becomes so intrusive it detracts from the gaming experience.

I've played FSX (badly) at 1440x900, 1280x800, 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 and I can promise you, you need a very good gpu to enable good frame rates AND good detail settings along with, as you mentioned, a good cpu.

Bear in mind, the guy is on a budget, I think he is pretty happy just to upgrade his AGP. I think the FSX is not really his main priority.
