| Ok I have an older system. It's not bad, I think it's an '03 Compaq Presario S3100NX with 1.8GHz, 750mb RAM but it has a very bad graphics card. I can't even run the Halo: CE demo on it haha. So i'm looking to upgrade. I wan't to see if I can run games on this computer though so I will be putting another gig of RAM and i want a high end graphics card but I don't know if my system has the proper equipment for a new graphics card. How can I tell if my slots are AGP or PCI or what ever they're called. Im kinda a noob to this kind of stuff so try to be lenient on your choice of words ![]() |

| Your CPU is likely to hold you back if it's from 03. There's no real reason to put in a high-end graphics card (not that any are compatible with AGP), and you'll most likely be using DDR1 RAM. AGP is also really, really slow. The best you'll be able to do is a 6600GT which is quite old but can run some older stuff decently (Battlefield 2, etc). Though to answer your question, AGP slot looks like a big black slot about 1.5 times the size of a PCI slot, usually located above them.
