I'm setting up SLI. I have a Geforce 9600GT and a Geforce 9600 GSO. which one should be the master?

Uh, it doesn't really matter, but this is a terrible idea unless you just happen to get one or both for free, sell them both and get a single card.

If it was the original Phenom I'd sell that off with the two cards and grab a X3 720 and 4850 keeping the motherboard and PSU (which are okay, especially for $60). The kind of resolutions where SLI makes sense are those that a 9600GT isn't built to handle. You're going to be limited to the (rather dismal) performance of the 9600GT in most scenarios and have to deal with increased heat, power usage, application instability etc if you bother with SLI.

But yeah, not that bad of a deal even if you just kept the other two parts. Even if you don't decide to get rid of 'em, I'd still recommend not doing SLI for the above reasons. The standard maxim of multicard is "once you've done SLI or Crossfire once, you'll never do it again" - a friend of mine has two 8800 Ultras and just keeps SLI off most of the time because it's such a pain.
