Couldn't you have told him to go get a 5970 for lols? No lag there..

He's right though, go buy a card recommended in his guide.

What we need to know is the mother board. For a video card you need to have a pci or pci-e slot available. Also, depending upon the card, some extra power leads.

"Budget friendly" is an ambiguous term. How much exactly do you want to spend?

Lag when playing online is more likely down to a poor internet connection than a poor video card.

Some people say lag is low FPS though, be helpful if he said what games he was lagging on and what type of lag it was. If it's people jumping across the screen but he moves smoothly then it's internet lag, if he's having no response and powerpointing through a game, then he needs a new video card.

Absolutely, however in my experience most of the "lag" issues are down to poor 'net connections.

If it was a graphics problem, the lag would still be there offline as well.

He never said if the lag was or wasn't present during offline games. I'm thinking it is online however, which would indicate a bad connection.
